Gochang County, North Jeolla Province, announced on the 13th that it held the ‘2nd Youth Policy Council Inauguration Ceremony and Regular General Meeting’ in the situation room on the 2nd floor of the county office the previous day.

At the inauguration ceremony, 22 members, composed of youth representatives, were awarded appointment letters, and the Youth Policy Council’s pledge for “Gochang, a youth-friendly city where young people want to live,” was read aloud.

During the subsequent regular general meeting, major projects related to youth policy were introduced, followed by the election of the chairperson and a time for communication among the members.

The 2nd Youth Policy Council was formed in accordance with the “Gochang County Youth Basic Ordinance” through an open recruitment process last December, and consists of 22 young people aged 18 to 45 from various fields such as office workers and small business owners.

The appointed members will collect opinions from local youth over the next two years, identify youth issues, seek solutions, and, in line with the slogan “Young people know youth issues best,” propose and discover youth policies that resonate with young people and participate in the policy-making process.

The county plans to hold a youth event and activity report meeting in September to review the activities of the council, gather opinions from young people, and reflect them in youth policy projects.

Starting with the appointment of the Youth Policy Council members, the county will continue its efforts for the successful operation of youth policy governance by operating youth network clubs, producing integrated youth policy information magazines, and running an online youth platform.

County Governor Sim Deokseop said, “To make Gochang a better place for young people to live, I will listen to the opinions of the Youth Policy Council members,” and added, “As representatives of the county’s youth, I hope you will take pride and a sense of belonging and actively participate in making Gochang a vibrant and happy place for young people.”
