Yeongyang-gun to Host the 2nd Yeongyang Kkongkkong Winter Festival Starting January 3 Next Year

Yeongyang County, Gyeongbuk Province (Governor O Do-chang) will hold the "2nd Yeongyang Kkongkkong Winter Festival" from January 3 to 19, 2025, at the ice rink in Hyeon-ri, Yeongyang-eup (around Hyeon-ri, Yeongyang-eup), hosted by Yeongyang County and organized by the Yeongyang County Sports Council.

The Hyeon-ri ice rink, which previously operated only as a free skating rink, is hosting the Kkongkkong Festival for the first time this January. The festival added various programs such as a snow sledding area, a rotating snow sledding area, ice fishing for smelt, and smelt catching experiences. It also offered a variety of food and various experiential programs, making it a winter festival that satisfies all five senses, attracting over 35,000 visitors and receiving favorable reviews.

Now in its second year, the Kkongkkong Festival is accelerating preparations to become Gyeongbuk Province's representative winter festival that is safe and enjoyable for people of all ages, based on the experience of the first festival.
