"Arrest and Investigation of President Yoon Seok-yeol"... Hanyang University Professors and Researchers Issue Political Statement

419 professors and researchers from Hanyang University issued a political statement calling for the resignation of President Yoon Seok-yeol.

The Hanyang University faculty stated in the declaration on the 6th, "The prosecution and police must urgently arrest and thoroughly detain and investigate President Yoon Seok-yeol, the main culprit of the crime of rebellion, along with his subordinates and accomplices," and criticized, "The people can no longer trust President Yoon. President Yoon has usurped the sovereignty of the people, trampled on the democracy of the Republic of Korea, and violated the constitutional order, thereby proving himself to be an anti-state force."

They emphasized, "The National Assembly must promptly pass the impeachment to immediately suspend the president's duties and take measures to restore democracy," and "The prosecution and police must investigate without delay and immediately prosecute President Yoon, Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, and those responsible for this incident."

They stated, "It is proper for the people's representatives in the National Assembly to unanimously agree and resolve the impeachment motion filed against President Yoon on behalf of the people," and warned, "If there are forces that refuse impeachment for political calculations or protect acts of rebellion, they will face strong popular resistance."

They said, "Along with President Yoon's impeachment and resignation movement, the direction should encompass a grand social reform," and "We also urge civil society to strive together toward true democracy where the people are the real owners."
