On the 14th, Seoul City announced that at the 15th Urban and Architectural Joint Committee held on the 13th, it approved a revised version of the "District Unit Plan Amendment for the Area Surrounding Susaek and DMC Stations" containing these details.

The target area is a large-scale site of approximately 450,000㎡ located on the boundary between Mapo-gu and Eunpyeong-gu, around Susaek and DMC Stations. There have been ongoing concerns that the Gyeongui-Jungang Line and Susaek train depot located within the site disrupt the connection between Susaek-Jeungsan New Town and the Sangam-dong business district, hindering regional economic revitalization.

First, the city plans to expand the metropolitan center functions of the Susaek and DMC Station area by developing mixed-use office and residential facilities. The DMC Station will be linked with the Sangam I3·4 and I5 Lotte Shopping sites to introduce complex commercial functions.

Additionally, cultural, convention, retail, and accommodation facilities utilizing K-cultural content will be introduced at the center of the site. To support this, a Performing Arts Support Center and an International Exchange Center will be established within the DMC area to facilitate communication and exchange among young workers and international students, making it a hub for complex cultural tourism.

Spaces divided by railway facilities will also be connected. The width of the underground road passing through the center of the site will be expanded from 15m to 20m, and accessibility will be improved through two wide pedestrian bridges and public pedestrian pathways within Susaek Station and DMC Station buildings.

Pedestrian convenience will also be enhanced. A three-dimensional public pedestrian passage connecting the upper parts of Susaek Station and DMC Station buildings will be installed, and a pedestrian network and public pedestrian pathways linking the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail and neighborhood parks within the Susaek Station area will be planned. Furthermore, a public open space is planned above the Airport Railroad along Seongam-ro, creating a pedestrian green corridor connected to the existing Gyeongui Line Forest Trail.

Considering that this area is a flight safety zone and the maximum height of the Sanggam residential development project to the south of the site, a diverse skyline formation will be encouraged. Building heights will decrease from a maximum of 120m in the center to 60m on the outskirts, with office and rest spaces planned inside. For railway stations, the exterior design will emphasize the identity of the railway station.

Seoul City stated, “The decision to amend the district unit plan for the Susaek and DMC Station area lays the foundation for enhancing the status of the northwest metropolitan center and is expected to serve as an opportunity to foster a ‘Global Northwest Metropolitan Center’ that integrates the Sangam and Susaek areas based on DMC functions.”
