Korean comedy "Hello Ghost" has won accolades at international film festivals in Switzerland and Japan, according to the respective websites on Friday.

The website of the Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival, into its 11th edition, revealed that "Hello Ghost," helmed by Korean auteur Kim Young-taek, scored the award for the best Asian film at the fest held in Switzerland from July 1 to 9.

The Korean picture also took home the Fukuoka Grand Prix 2011 at the 25th annual Fukuoka Asian Film Festival which took place in Fukuoka of Japan from July 1 to 10.

"Hello Ghost," starring cha Tae-hyun, tells the story of a guy (Cha) who starts seeing four ghosts -- a pervert, a chain smoker, a crying woman and a child -- after trying to commit suicide. He then must grant the ghosts their wishes in order for them to leave him alone.

The film successfully brought in over three million viewers after opening in local theaters late December last year and has also been sold to American director Chris Columbus' production company 1492 Pictures who will produce an American remake.
