Singer Brian releases Korean remake of U.S. pop song

Singer Brian of Korean pop duo Fly to the Sky has released a remake of U.S. pop hit "In My Head", according to record label Warner Music Korea.

Warner Music said that the original song by American singer Jason Derulo and the Korean version recorded by Brian were simultaneously released in the country on Thursday.

"Head", released in the U.S. in December 2009, is currently ranked at No. 9 on the Billboard chart.

This is the second time that a Korean artist has recorded a local version of a popular song from overseas; in February last year, K-pop singer Wheesung released a Korean remake of "Insomnia" by U.K. artist Craig David, which became a huge hit.

An official at Warner Music explained that their "head office is paying very close attention to whether this will succeed as it did in Wheesung's case."

The Korean-American singer, whose full name is Brian Minkyu Joo, debuted in 1999 as a member of Korean R&B duo Fly To The Sky. After releasing eight studio albums as a group, members Brian and Fany Hwang both decided to pursue solo activities.

Brian made his solo debut in 2006 with the album "The Brian" and released his second record "Manifold" last December.

American singer Jason Derulo, who will be visiting Korea on March 17, is scheduled to hold a showcase and appear on television with Brian to promote the album.
