Actor Shin Ha-kyun has said one of his main reasons he took on KBS’ drama “Brain” is because he feels that viewers can get something new out of it. He made the remark at the press conference held in Seoul on Tuesday for the medical series, his first small screen project in eight years.Shin made his last public television appearance as Park Jun-pil in MBC’s “Good Person” in 2003 and since starred only in a number of big screen projects including “Save the Green Planet!” (2003) “Welcome To Dongmakgol” (2005), “The Big Scene” (2005), “The Game” (2007) and most recently “The Frontline” (2011). “I had a number of opportunities to star in shows for major broadcasters…… and it’s not like I turned them down on purpose but I felt that the audience can get something new out of ‘Brain,’” Shin said. “The characters are different and I like how the series is able to portray ambition, one of the basic instincts to people, in a different manner as well.” He then explained, “Instead of showing how (ambitious) male characters are always cool-headed and picky, the series depicts on an individual’s drive for success and their future."“Brain,” helmed by producer Yoo Hyun-ki, tells the everyday stories of ambitious neurosurgeons working at one of the top hospitals in the country. The show, also starring Choi Jung-won, Jo Dong-hyeok and Jung Jin-young, will air every Monday and Tuesday night starting November 14. ※ Any copying, republication or redistribution of 10Asia's content is expressly prohibited without prior consent of 10Asia.
