"I do not recommend that victims actively confront offenders"
"It is best to comply with demands and report to the police for apprehension"
Actress Nana, formerly of the group After School, made headlines after subduing an armed robber who broke into her home. An expert commented that while such cases are rare, reporting to the police should always be the top priority.
At around 6 a.m. on the 15th, a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, broke into Nana's residence in Acheondong, Guri City, armed with a weapon, and demanded valuables from Nana and her mother. Nana and her mother engaged in a physical struggle with Mr. A, subdued him, and then called the police. During the incident, both Nana and her mother sustained injuries, and Mr. A was arrested on charges of attempted armed robbery.

Attorney Park Seongbae explained in an interview with YTN News on the 17th, "This was an incident where Nana and her mother fought with and subdued an armed robber, Mr. A. When the police and fire authorities arrived at the scene, the robber was already injured."
When asked whether there have been other cases of two women subduing an armed robber, Attorney Park stated, "Such cases are rare. Because the robber was subdued and injured, the investigation was not conducted immediately. The investigation began once he regained consciousness to some extent, and the arrest warrant was requested later."
He added, "I do not know whether Nana had any equipment at the time of the incident or if she was confident due to martial arts training, but it seems she took a more active role because her mother was present."
He continued, "Since a man in his 30s entered the residence armed with a weapon with the intent to steal valuables, it is clear that the charge of attempted armed robbery applies. However, if the victims were injured during the struggle, it is highly likely that charges of robbery resulting in injury will be added. A heavy sentence is inevitable."
He emphasized, "Since the victims were also injured and need to recover, I would not recommend that victims actively confront perpetrators in such situations." Attorney Park advised, "If something like this happens, it is best to comply with the demands to some extent and immediately report to the police so that the perpetrator can be apprehended quickly."
The police believe that Mr. A chose the crime scene after noticing that Nana's front door was open and then entered the residence.
