Sangmyung University to Establish Early Employment-Oriented Contract Departments at Cheonan Campus... Applications Accepted Without CSAT Sangmyung University Campus View

Sangmyung University, with support from South Chungcheong Province, will establish early employment-oriented contract departments at its Cheonan campus and introduce a new admissions track for the 2026 academic year that does not require minimum CSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) scores.

On September 4, Sangmyung University’s Cheonan campus announced the launch of early employment-oriented contract departments, targeting both the industrial workforce needs of South Chungcheong Province and the settlement of young people in the region.

The newly established departments are the Department of Smart IT Convergence Engineering (30 students) and the Department of Bio Food Technology (25 students), both of which will recruit students outside the regular enrollment quota.

The Department of Smart IT Convergence Engineering aims to cultivate talent in designing smart manufacturing automation control systems, essential for major industries in South Chungcheong such as semiconductors, displays, and mobility. The Department of Bio Food Technology will train professionals in smart manufacturing and quality/process management for the bio, pharmaceutical, food, and feed industries.

The curriculum consists of three years of intensive education. In the first year, students will learn foundational major courses and general education. Starting from the second year, students will participate in early employment and engage in project-based practical training in collaboration with partner companies. Upon earning 120 credits, students can obtain a regular bachelor’s degree in just three years. After graduation, they will also receive various types of career guidance, including continuing education and further studies.

Notably, students matched with companies in South Chungcheong Province who remain employed for two years after graduation will receive a settlement support grant of 12 million won.

The early employment-oriented contract department admissions track at the Cheonan campus is open to high school graduates (including prospective graduates) and those with equivalent academic backgrounds, with no age restrictions. In the first stage, five times the number of available spots will be selected through a 100% document review. In the second stage, the final selection will be based on 10% document review and 90% interview. Minimum CSAT score requirements do not apply.

At the Seoul campus, the high school recommendation track will abolish both the recommendation quota and minimum CSAT requirements. The essay-based admissions track will be offered in all departments except for some in the arts and physical education. For this track, 10% of the evaluation will be based on academic records and 90% on the essay test, with no minimum CSAT requirement.

Sangmyung University will recruit a total of 1,961 students (950 in Seoul and 1,011 in Cheonan) for the 2026 academic year. Applications can be submitted via the Sangmyung University admissions website or Uwayapply from 10 a.m. on September 8 to 6 p.m. on September 12.

Meanwhile, Sangmyung University has demonstrated outstanding performance in government-funded projects, including the Advanced Innovation Convergence University Project, the Software-Centered University Project, the University Innovation Support Project, and the University Job Plus Center Project, earning recognition for its tailored career and employment support capabilities.
