Indicted and Detained for Murder After Killing Cohabitant Over Door Dispute
On April 25, prosecutors announced that they have disclosed the personal information of Park Chansung (64), who was indicted and detained on multiple charges including murder for killing his cohabitant because the victim did not open the door for him.
The Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office will publish Park Chansung's name, age, and facial image on its website from today until May 24.
On April 17, prosecutors convened a review committee and decided to disclose Park Chansung's personal information.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on April 4, after consuming alcohol, Park Chansung returned to his residence in Hodong, Jung-gu, Daejeon, and asked his cohabitant, a man in his 60s identified as A, to open the door.
When A refused to open the door, Park Chansung became enraged, broke the window with a brick, entered the house, and killed him. He has been indicted on charges of murder.
It is known that Park Chansung and A began living together after meeting at a rehabilitation protection institution.
Previously, in 2004, Park Chansung was sentenced to 15 years in prison for killing a man identified as B in Wansan-gu, Jeonju, after B verbally abused him. In March 2022, he was sentenced to two years in prison for wielding a weapon during a dispute with an acquaintance in Geumsan-gun, Chungnam.
