Chungnam Province, 'LPG Collective Supply' to Villages at Eup and Myeon Level

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) collective supply will become possible in Eup and Myeon-level villages in Chungnam Province where city gas was not supplied.

Chungnam Province announced on the 4th that the "Eup and Myeon-level Medium-scale LPG Pipeline Network Construction Project" recently passed the preliminary feasibility study by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, allowing the related project to be promoted for five years starting next year.

The LPG pipeline network construction project is expected to invest a total of 59.5 billion KRW, including 29.8 billion KRW in national funds. This project aims to install LPG storage tanks in Eup and Myeon-level villages not connected to city gas and connect supply pipelines to all households in the village so that LPG can be used like city gas.

The storage tanks will be installed with a capacity of 20 to 30 tons, allowing 1,000 households to use LPG for 7 to 10 days during winter. LPG refilling of the storage tanks will be done using dedicated transport vehicles, and fees will be charged based on usage measured by meters installed in each household.

Once the project is completed, village residents will save about 30% on fuel costs compared to using conventional heating kerosene or LPG cylinders, and they will no longer have to deal with the inconvenience of purchasing heating kerosene or replacing LPG cylinders.

The project will be promoted from next year until 2028, targeting Eup and Myeon-level villages with 400 to 1,200 households.

The annual project targets are ▲ 2024?2025 (Phase 1): Yugu-eup in Gongju, Anmyeon-eup in Taean ▲ 2025?2026 (Phase 2): Seongju-myeon in Boryeong, Geunheung-myeon in Taean ▲ 2026?2027 (Phase 3): Hongsan-myeon in Buyeo ▲ 2027?2028 (Phase 4): Chubu-myeon in Geumsan.

Meanwhile, Chungnam Province plans to expand the "Village-level LPG Pipeline Network Supply Project," which has supported villages with fewer than 100 households, from 13 villages this year to 17 villages next year.
