Celebrating 140 Years of Diplomatic Relations: Showcasing the Taste and Charm of Namdo in Germany

This event is held to commemorate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Germany, with the city of Frankfurt inviting Korea as the guest of honor at the riverbank festival, and Jeonnam Province representing Korean local governments.

The province and the Consulate General in Frankfurt planned the event together to strengthen the friendly relations between Korea and Germany and to showcase Korea’s diverse charms in culture, arts, tourism, and cuisine, as well as to support the promotion of export products from companies in the Jeonnam region.

During the three-day festival, leveraging Korea’s highly regarded content (K-Contents) in Germany, Jeonnam will present a rich and diverse array of tastes and charms including excellent agricultural and marine products, tourism resources, and traditional arts.

They will also actively engage in attracting European tourists.

On the first day of the festival, the 25th, they will participate in a business-to-business (B2B) event hosted by the Korea Tourism Organization to promote Jeonnam’s tourism resources such as the Suncheonman International Garden Expo to local travel industries and media.

During the festival, a Jeonnam tourism promotion booth will be operated around Rossmarkt Square in downtown Frankfurt.

The opening ceremony held on the main stage at the event venue will be attended by Park Chang-hwan, Jeonnam Province Deputy Governor for Political Affairs, Ko Kyung-seok, Consul General in Frankfurt, Thomas Feda, CEO of Frankfurt Tourism Board, and Elke Voitl, Deputy Mayor of Frankfurt.

Special celebratory performances will include a fan dance by the Jeonnam Provincial Gugak Orchestra and a Taekwondo demonstration by Kukkiwon.

The Frankfurt Museumsuferfest is the largest outdoor festival in the region, held annually at the end of August along the Main River, featuring 27 museums, 12 stages, and over 400 booths offering various performances, food, and exhibitions.
