[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] On the 12th, Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, visited the online community DC Inside (DC) and said, "We will correct the tilted playing field of the game market to institutionally guarantee the voices of users."
On the same day, Lee wrote a post titled "This is Lee Jae-myung. I will actively protect the rights and interests of game users who have been neglected" on the Lee Jae-myung gallery and emphasized this. He said he heard concerns about "probability-type items" on the bulletin board. He stated, "The problem arises when the probability-type item model is combined with 'pay to win,' a system where you become stronger by paying money," adding, "Unfortunately, it seems difficult to solve the problem through self-regulation by the game industry."
He then mentioned the amendment bills proposed by Democratic Party lawmakers, including the Game Industry Promotion Act, saying, "The purpose is to transparently disclose information about probability-type items."
Lee said, "The fundamental solution is to protect the rights and interests of game users and create a channel through which users' voices can be heard," adding, "Democratic Party lawmakers have proposed an amendment to the Content Industry Promotion Act to significantly expand the functions of the Content Dispute Mediation Committee. If the amendment passes, it will be possible to protect users' rights and interests more effectively."
This is the third time Lee has posted on DC. He wrote his first greeting post on the 20th of last month. On the 2nd of this month, he posted about abolishing the unpaid labor malpractice against intern workers.
