Sales Volume for July as of the 16th... 500% Surge Compared to Last Month
Demand for 'Easy-to-Install' Window Air Conditioners Rises Amid Hot and Humid Weather...
[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Sales of window air conditioners are surging. This is due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic causing people to stay home longer, combined with the onset of the full summer heat.
According to Cuckoo on the 17th, as of the 16th, sales of the Cuckoo Homesys 'Inspure Window Air Conditioner' in July increased by about 500% compared to the total sales of the previous month. The company explained that this was the result of focusing on securing market dominance by expanding sales channels to major retailers such as Hi-Mart and Electron Land, as well as large marts and home shopping both online and offline, after first launching the Inspure window air conditioner.
Another reason is the significant increase in demand for window air conditioners themselves. According to Cuckoo, with hot and humid weather continuing since the beginning of this month, demand for window air conditioners, which can be easily installed and used immediately without separate outdoor unit construction, has steadily increased. The company also believes that the clean white-tone exterior that harmonizes with room interiors and the slim design that enhances space efficiency have positively influenced the sales performance.
Demand for the Inspure window air conditioner is expected to continue growing for the time being. Earlier, the Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that the rainy season would end around the 20th of this month, followed by a heatwave with temperatures around 32 degrees Celsius. Cuckoo plans to respond to consumer demand by expanding sales channels, including special broadcasts for window air conditioners through various home shopping channels throughout this month.
The Inspure window air conditioner is an integrated product combining the outdoor and indoor units into one. Unlike traditional air conditioners, it can be easily and simply installed anywhere there is a window. It features a 'self-evaporation system' that naturally evaporates moisture generated during the heat exchange process through a fan, eliminating the need for drainage pipe installation or drilling work. This also reduces the burden of relocation installation due to changes in living environments such as moving.
It has earned the highest energy efficiency rating (Grade 1), reducing electricity costs. The airflow direction can be freely adjusted up, down, left, and right, minimizing blind spots in the space and enhancing cooling effectiveness. Additionally, it offers various operating modes such as cooling, fan, and dehumidification to create a comfortable indoor environment during summer.
A Cuckoo Homesys official said, "Although the vacation season has arrived, COVID-19 is resurging, leading more people to plan 'staycation' vacations this year as well," adding, "With the start of the full heat and vacation season, we aim to meet consumer demand by diversifying sales channels."
