[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Samsung Electronics announced on the 1st that it will launch the outdoor unit of a large system air conditioner, 'DVM S2,' which enhances heating and cooling performance and energy efficiency using artificial intelligence (AI) technology and can connect more than 60 indoor units at once.

DVM is a single outdoor unit for large buildings. It can connect to various indoor units and features a wide temperature control range from minus 25 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius. Samsung Electronics first launched the 'DVM S' in 2012 and introduced a new product after nine years by incorporating innovative technology.

This product can connect up to 64 Samsung Wind-Free air conditioner indoor units, including system air conditioner 360, wall-mounted air conditioners, and 1Way·4Way ceiling cassette types. Samsung Electronics explained that this is suitable for public facilities such as schools, offices, shopping malls, apartments, and large commercial spaces.

It also features an 'AI Customized Control' solution that optimally controls by learning various data based on AI technology. According to Samsung Electronics' experiments, this solution provides functions such as ▲'AI Rapid Cooling Control,' which cools about 20% faster than before by learning changes in operation patterns according to indoor and outdoor environments ▲'AI Energy Saving Control,' which reduces power consumption by about 15% by understanding the outdoor unit's surrounding environment through various sensors such as temperature and pressure and considering factors like height difference and pipe length ▲'AI Real-time Refrigerant Leak Detection,' which monitors and alerts refrigerant leaks in real time.

Energy efficiency has also been increased by up to 9%. The heat exchanger area has been expanded by up to about 25% to maximize operational efficiency, and the discharge part of the small model features a sawtooth-shaped fan inspired by the wing shape of the scops owl. As a result, airflow is increased while power consumption is reduced.

Lee Kang-hyup, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Home Appliance Business Division, said, "DVM S2 is an innovative product that applies artificial intelligence technology to improve not only energy efficiency but also heating and cooling performance," and added, "It is expected to greatly contribute to strengthening the status of Samsung system air conditioners in major regions worldwide."

DVM S2, designed for both heating and cooling, will be sequentially released within this year in a total of five different lineups according to performance and functions.
