Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Establishes Artificial Intelligence and Creative Convergence Education Team

Establishing a Virtuous Cycle System for AI-Driven School Education
Supporting Science, Mathematics, Informatics Education and AI Gifted Education

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 4th that it will establish an 'Artificial Intelligence and Creative Convergence Education Team' to cultivate AI talent and build a virtuous cycle system for AI-utilized school education.

By adding mathematics education duties to the existing science, gifted, and informatization education teams, the team structure was reorganized to qualitatively improve the content and methods of education in the core AI subjects of science, mathematics, and information education, and to strengthen connections between school levels.

The Artificial Intelligence and Creative Convergence Education Team was created to implement the 'AI-based Convergent Innovative Future Education Mid-to-Long-Term Development Plan' announced by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education last February. The team will promote tasks supporting science, mathematics, and information education, which are core AI subjects, maker education for student-centered AI education participation, and gifted education support to strengthen career and academic guidance in the AI field, enabling schools to systematically operate AI-utilized education.

The AI-based Convergent Innovative Future Education aims to operate AI-based theme-centered convergence projects across all subjects from kindergarten to high school and to develop AI-based problem-solving skills. It includes diagnosing individual students' strengths and learning gaps through analysis of AI-based curriculum, instruction, and assessment (records) to implement customized education.

Cho Hee-yeon, Superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "Innovative future education that prepares in advance for the future society transformed by AI is necessary, and we expect that the establishment of the Artificial Intelligence and Creative Convergence Education Team will accelerate customized education for each and every student."
