The Daejeon Metropolitan Women's Association, led by President Nam Heesoo, held the year-end "Warm Winter: Sharing Winter Outerwear Full of Warmth" event in the lobby on the first floor of Daejeon City Hall on December 3.

The event was attended by Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon; Cho Wonhui, Chairperson of the Daejeon City Council; and Nam Jaedong, President of the Daejeon Love Citizens' Association, among others.

During the sharing event, 50 households-including students in need, multicultural families, single-parent families, and grandparent-grandchild families-each received two padded jackets and one box of Kkumdori ramen per household.

Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, expressed his gratitude, saying, "As we approach the end of the year, a time when our society needs more warmth, your generous sharing will be a great source of strength to overcome the cold wave."

At the event, Mayor Lee continued to highlight the improvements in Daejeon.

He stated, "Daejeon's population had been declining for 12 years since the establishment of Sejong City, but this year, we have seen a reversal, with the population increasing by about 2,800 people through November. This is highly significant. This year, around 70,000 people registered as new residents in Daejeon, and 60% of them are under the age of 39."

He further explained, "The influx of young people indicates that Daejeon has become a better place to live, with improved job opportunities, living conditions, education, and housing."

He added, "A closer look shows that the Hanwha Eagles baseball team and Daejeon Hana Citizen professional football team both finished as runners-up. The sales of Kkumssi Family merchandise are about to surpass 10 billion won. The combined market capitalization of listed companies based in Daejeon is approaching 90 trillion won. The Defense Acquisition Program Administration is relocating here. The German company Merck's 430 billion won investment plant will be completed next year. Construction of Daejeon Metro Line 2 has begun. The Yuseong Complex Terminal will be completed on December 29 this year. Construction of Sikjangsan Station on Metro Line 1 has started. The Bomunsan project is also progressing smoothly." He provided these details to illustrate how Daejeon has become a better place to live.
