On Thursday, the 4th, most regions across the country are expected to experience a sharp drop in temperatures and continue to face severe cold, due to the influence of cold air moving in from the north.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, on the 4th, morning lows are forecast to range from minus 14 to 0 degrees Celsius, while daytime highs will be between 1 and 9 degrees Celsius. In particular, cold wave advisories have been issued for the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon, and northwestern Chungcheong, with morning temperatures in some areas expected to drop to around minus 10 degrees Celsius.
Morning temperatures in major cities are expected to be: Seoul -9°C, Incheon -8°C, Chuncheon -14°C, Gangneung -6°C, Cheongju -8°C, Daejeon -8°C, Jeonju -5°C, Gwangju -3°C, Daegu -5°C, Busan -2°C, Ulsan -4°C, and Jeju 5°C.
Forecasted daytime highs are: Seoul 3°C, Incheon 5°C, Chuncheon 1°C, Gangneung 6°C, Cheongju 3°C, Daejeon 4°C, Jeonju 5°C, Gwangju 6°C, Daegu 6°C, Busan 8°C, Ulsan 6°C, and Jeju 11°C.
Rain or snow is expected to fall in central regions, Honam, and Jeju until the morning. Accumulated snowfall from the previous day will continue in the western coastal areas of South Chungcheong, northern Jeollabuk-do and Jeollanam-do, and the mountainous areas of Jeju, with 3 to 8 centimeters expected and some parts of the west coast seeing more than 10 centimeters. In Sejong and the northern inland areas of South Chungcheong, 1 to 5 centimeters of snow is expected, while Daejeon, southern South Chungcheong, and central and southern North Chungcheong are forecast to receive around 1 centimeter of snowfall.
The severe cold is expected to ease starting from the 5th, and by the weekend, temperatures are forecast to rise above seasonal averages.
Fine dust concentrations are expected to remain at 'good' to 'moderate' levels across all regions.
