Netmarble Suffers Additional Leak of 8,000 Personal Records... "Reported to Authorities"

It has been revealed that Netmarble, a major domestic game company where the personal information of 6.11 million people was leaked due to hacking, has suffered an additional leak of about 8,000 pieces of personal information, including customer service inquiries and online job applicants.


On December 3, Netmarble announced on its website, "During our internal investigation, we discovered additional leaked information."

The additional leaked information disclosed by Netmarble includes: 3,185 records containing names, emails, and other details used to identify customer service inquiry clients (from 2003-2004 and 2014-2021); 2,022 records from online job applicants (from 2003-2006) including names, emails, religion, and other application details; 966 records (all encrypted) from visitors to the 2011 job fair booth, including names, emails, and mobile phone numbers; and 1,875 records from B2B (business-to-business) proposal contacts (from 2001-2005 and 2011-2021), including names, emails, mobile phone numbers, and other proposal details. In total, 8,048 records were affected.


Among the leaked information, there were also 314 resident registration numbers from customer service clients and 990 resident registration numbers from online job applicants.


Netmarble explained that it reported the newly confirmed matters to relevant authorities and has been individually notifying the affected parties in sequence.


Previously, on November 27, Netmarble announced that the information of 6.11 million customers and employees had been leaked due to hacking on its PC game portal sites, including Baduk and Janggi.


Additionally, the company explained that about 31 million IDs and passwords, which were dormant and could not be used to identify individuals, as well as the names and email addresses of business owners from approximately 66,000 PC cafe franchisees prior to 2015, were also leaked.
