What Is the Future Port? Busan Port Authority to Host 2nd Smart Port Technology Innovation Forum

Discussion on Key Technological Issues Including Port AI Implementation

Busan Port Authority (BPA), led by President Song Sangkeun, will host the 2nd Smart Port Technology Innovation Forum at the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center (BPEX) from December 8 to 9, 2025.

This forum, now in its second year following last year’s inaugural event, has been organized by BPA to discuss various pressing issues in the rapidly evolving port infrastructure development sector, such as port automation and the integration of AI, together with industry stakeholders.

The forum will be held under the theme "3D Strategy for the Future Port: Digitalization, Decarbonization, Durability." Domestic port and logistics experts, research institutions, and industry representatives will be in attendance.

The main program includes: ▲ Keynote speech (3D Strategy for the Future Port in the Digital AI Era), ▲ Presentations by field, ▲ Comprehensive panel discussion, and ▲ Awards for outstanding technological professionals.

Detailed presentations by field will cover: ▲ Strategies for Introducing AI Technology for Terminal Safety Operations (Professor Lim Changwon, Chung-Ang University), ▲ AI Adoption Cases in Other Industries and AI Application Strategies for Ports (Executive Director Kim Heechan, OpenSG), ▲ Development Directions for Unmanned Port Transport Equipment (Team Leader Kang Taeho, Hyundai Rotem), ▲ Future Strategies for Shipping and Port Operation Systems (Team Leader Cho Joonhee, CyberLogitec), and ▲ Eco-Friendly and Smart Port Construction Technology (Manager Na Hyunju, Hyundai Engineering & Construction). Expert presentations and comprehensive discussions will address key issues such as port AI, unmanned transport equipment, and safety.

Song Sangkeun, President of BPA, stated, "This forum will serve as an opportunity to conduct in-depth discussions during a period of transition for the port industry, including AI, thereby strengthening the technological foundation of domestic ports and identifying future directions."
