Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju announced that 95,000 people visited the 3rd Gwangsan MusicON Festival, which was held at Hwangryong Chinsu Park last September, generating an economic impact of 2.02 billion KRW.

On December 3, Gwangsan-gu stated that, according to the festival evaluation service and big data analysis of the local commercial district, this festival produced tangible results in revitalizing the local economy and expanding tourism.

During the festival, the average daily sales in the nearby Seonun District commercial area reached 150 million KRW, an increase of 19.7% compared to the previous week. Sales rose mainly in high-consumption sectors such as Korean restaurants, dining establishments, and supermarkets, confirming the positive consumption effect from visitors.

This year’s festival, themed “The Moment Autumn Turns ON,” combined music performances, citizen participation programs, and relaxation and experiential content. The main music performance and the Air Force Black Eagles airshow ranked first and second in satisfaction. Participation programs such as the street karaoke and “book-nic” increased the length of stay, while dispersing performance, experience, and relaxation spaces helped reduce congestion in movement flow.

Gwangsan-gu explained that the festival was operated not just as a performance-centered event, but in a way that expanded the local tourism routes. District Mayor Park Byungkyu stated, “The festival had a positive impact on revitalizing the local economy and commercial districts,” adding, “Next year, we will further enrich the content to create a festival that promotes both local consumption and tourism.”
