Goryeong County Launches Campaign to Prevent Solitary Deaths Among Single-Person Households

Strengthening the Local Safety Net and Raising Public Awareness

On December 2, 2025, Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province, led by County Governor Lee Namcheol, held a campaign titled "Let's Discover Neighbors in Need Together" at the Daegaya Culture Nuri Center to prevent solitary deaths among single-person households.

This campaign was organized to address the increasing social isolation and heightened risk of solitary deaths due to the rise in single-person households, to raise public awareness among county residents, and to strengthen the local safety net.

At the campaign site, informational leaflets and promotional items on solitary death prevention were distributed. Residents were also instructed to immediately report any at-risk or crisis households in need of support to the Goryeong County Hope Welfare Support Team.

Goryeong County plans to institutionalize quarterly campaigns for solitary death prevention, continuously promote social awareness by expanding education for residents, and strengthen the community-based safety net. In addition, the county will enhance its cooperation system with local medical institutions, the police station, and the post office to further improve the effectiveness of solitary death prevention.

A county official stated, "Through this campaign, we had a meaningful opportunity to share the seriousness of solitary deaths and the need for prevention with residents," adding, "We will further strengthen active intervention for at-risk groups and reinforce our prevention and management system."
