Message on the First Anniversary of the December 3 Martial Law
"Martial Law, a Coup by Fantasists"

On December 3, marking the first anniversary of the December 3 Martial Law, Lee Junseok, leader of the Reform New Party, criticized, "When former President Yoon Suk-yeol found politics bothersome and made unilateral decisions, those who failed to restrain him early on and instead tried to ingratiate themselves ultimately created a monster."

Through his social networking service (SNS) account on this day, Lee stated, "Today marks one year since former President Yoon Suk-yeol committed the indelible mistake of declaring martial law."

Regarding the December 3 Martial Law, he remarked, "The very basis for it was the delusion of election fraud, and our military has proven itself to be a force of the people who will never again tolerate a coup by fantasists."

He continued, "There is a lesson that the conservative camp must engrave deeply: the moment you turn a blind eye to the faults and abuses of supreme power out of partisan loyalty, that power becomes maximally corrupt and arrogant." He also warned, "Whenever any political force tries to wield power without checks, or weaponizes its fandom to label criticism as hostility, we must remember this day one year ago."

Lee added, "I am deeply grateful to the people who stopped martial law and protected democracy," and pledged, "I will devote everything to the struggle so that, by keeping the spirit of cooperation and democracy close to heart, the people will not have to take to the streets again if forces threatening these values emerge."
