Mapo District Administration Satisfaction Reaches 84.5%, Up 17.1 Percentage Points

Significant Increase in Positive Responses Among Those in Their 30s and 40s
Top Priority for "Mapo Special Education Zone": Improvement of Academic Environment

In a district administration opinion poll conducted by Mapo District in Seoul (Mayor Park Gangsu), positive evaluations saw a significant increase compared to the previous year. On December 3, Mapo District announced that the '2025 Mapo District Administration and Policy Opinion Survey,' conducted on November 17-18, showed a 17.1 percentage point rise in positive assessments of district administration compared to the previous year.

When responses of 'very good' (13.5%), 'generally good' (32.5%), and 'average' (38.5%) regarding overall district administration were classified as positive evaluations, a total of 84.5% responded that the administration is performing well.


The district has focused on policies to address low birth rates, such as expanding family-oriented 'Eommbarang Series' programs like 'Eommbarang Camping' and 'Eommbarang Water Park,' operating the Sunlight Center, and extending the operating hours of the Babysitter House. As a result, positive responses among residents in their 30s (80.7%) and 40s (82.4%) increased sharply by 32.9 percentage points and 22.1 percentage points, respectively, compared to the previous year.


By policy sector, satisfaction was highest for culture and tourism (26.6%), followed by welfare (19.6%), and green spaces and environment (17.9%). In particular, satisfaction with green spaces and environment rose significantly from 9.3% last year to 17.9% this year. The effectiveness of welfare policies for the elderly received positive responses from 82.7%, changes in conditions for people with disabilities from 88.1%, and changes in care and childcare environments from 90.2% of respondents.


Changes in educational environment conditions received the highest positive response among all survey items, with 91.6%. Among the district's education policies, improvements to the environment around schools, such as creating safe school routes (43.8%), and upgrading aging school facilities (19.6%) were cited as the best-performing areas.


Tasks identified as necessary for realizing 'Mapo Special Education Zone' were improvement of academic environments (34.7%), establishment of a reliable care system (21.6%), and expansion of career education (17.7%), in that order.


Park Gangsu, Mayor of Mapo District, stated, "Every evaluation and opinion sent by residents serves as an objective indicator to assess Mapo's current status and determine the direction we should pursue in the future," adding, "We will continue to operate the district administration in ways that residents can truly feel."


This survey was conducted using ARS and text message methods with 800 Mapo District residents aged 18 or older, with a confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of ±3.5 percentage points.
