Hwacheon County in Gangwon Province held the '2025 Confident Cooking Contest' at the Hwacheon County Family Center in Hwacheon-eup on the 29th.
The cooking contest was attended by around 40 married immigrant women residing in Hwacheon and about 30 of their children.
Participants included married immigrant women from five countries-Japan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Philippines-who recreated the authentic flavors of their homelands and shared them with their children and other attendees.
In addition to the cooking contest, the event featured a variety of programs, such as multicultural family recreation and a magic performance.
The Hwacheon County Family Center, which opened in September last year, offers Korean language and job support education for married immigrant women and assists them in various social activities.
For their children, the center is also providing support for bilingual environments and developmental programs, including art classes and special vacation courses.
Furthermore, the center is helping immigrant women improve their Korean language skills through Korean language learning and home-visit education support.
In addition, to further strengthen support for multicultural families, the center offers a comprehensive range of services, such as support for visiting their home countries, healing and integration classes, referral services to childcare institutions, and assistance with naturalization and interpretation/translation.
Choi Moonsoon, Governor of Hwacheon County, said, "We are doing our utmost to develop demand-driven policies so that members of multicultural families can lead happy lives in Hwacheon."
