Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyun) conducted on-site inspections of construction sites on the 28th to strengthen safety management for the winter season and ensure the timely opening of the Okjeong-Pocheon metropolitan railway.

The Okjeong-Pocheon metropolitan railway construction project officially began on the 6th with a groundbreaking ceremony. This inspection was organized to establish a safety management system at the initial stage of construction and to strengthen facility management in response to winter weather changes. Mayor Baek Younghyun, along with heads of relevant departments, representatives from the construction company, and the supervisory team, participated in the inspection.

Given that the inspection took place right before the winter season, the team focused on measures to prevent accidents caused by seasonal factors such as ground freezing, strong winds, and heavy snowfall. The inspection team emphasized the importance of thoroughly managing the living environment by reducing noise and dust and securing safe pedestrian routes to minimize inconvenience to residents during construction. They also requested that local companies, equipment, and businesses be prioritized to help revitalize the local economy.

In addition, the team carefully checked major processes such as basic construction, installation of retaining walls, the condition of temporary structures, and equipment operation. By reviewing the safety management system at the initial stage of construction, they enhanced on-site stability.

Mayor Baek Younghyun stated, "Establishing strict safety management standards at the initial stage of construction is essential for ensuring the stability of subsequent processes. As the long-awaited era of the subway becomes a reality in five years, we will actively communicate to minimize unavoidable inconveniences during the construction period and help citizens prepare for changes in the future transportation environment."

The Okjeong-Pocheon metropolitan railway construction project was selected as a national balanced development project in 2019, received approval for its basic plan in 2022, and obtained implementation plan approval for all sections in 2024 before breaking ground. Land compensation procedures are currently underway. The city aims to complete construction and open the railway for service by the end of 2030.
