On November 24, the Southeast Regional Radiation Medicine Center (Director Lee Changhoon) conducted a promotional campaign for the life-sustaining treatment decision system, targeting outpatients and their caregivers. On that day, a total of about 60 people registered their advance directives for life-sustaining treatment.
The life-sustaining treatment decision system allows patients in the end-of-life process to record their wishes in advance to refuse or discontinue futile life-sustaining treatment. This system ensures respect for patient autonomy and guarantees a dignified end of life.

This campaign was held in the hospital lobby with support from the Busan Hospice and Palliative Care Center. Any adult aged 19 or older with decision-making capacity was eligible for consultation and registration. Participants shared that they spent meaningful time preparing for the end of life and having conversations with their families.
Additionally, Kim Young-eun, a hospice nurse specialist from the palliative care team, gave a lecture titled "Writing My Own Life Story - Living as Myself Until the End," raising awareness about end-of-life care and the importance of a dignified conclusion to life.
Han Eoncheol, Chair of the Life-Sustaining Treatment Ethics Committee (Head of Medical Affairs) at the Southeast Regional Radiation Medicine Center, stated, "We will continue to provide education and promote the life-sustaining treatment decision system to create a medical environment where patient dignity and choices are respected."
Advance directives for life-sustaining treatment can be completed at registration institutions designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Nearby registration institutions can be found through the website of the National Agency for Management of Life-Sustaining Treatment, local public health centers, or the National Health Insurance Service. The Southeast Regional Radiation Medicine Center is also in the process of being designated as a registration institution.
