Dezhou University Delegation Visits Siheung to Mark 20th Anniversary of Sister City Relationship

Discussing Ways to Expand Educational and Research Cooperation

Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 28th that a delegation from Dezhou University in Dezhou City, Shandong Province, China, visited the city on the 27th to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the sister city relationship between the two cities. During the visit, they discussed ways to expand the educational and research network with local universities.

This visit was arranged as a return visit following last month’s visit by Siheung City’s vice mayoral delegation to Dezhou City. The Dezhou University delegation consisted of Vice President Dan Zhentao, faculty members, and international exchange officials.

On the same day, the delegation visited Korea Polytechnic University to learn about Siheung City’s internationalization policies and the status of local universities, and also toured leading companies in the region.

During the inter-university meeting, the two cities discussed various cooperation measures, such as student and faculty exchanges, joint research, and short-term training programs, utilizing their respective industrial and educational infrastructure. They also reached a practical agreement to send Dezhou University students to Siheung in the first half of next year.

Park Seungsam, Vice Mayor of Siheung City, stated, "Based on the achievements of cooperation between Siheung City and Dezhou City over the past 20 years, I hope we can create a practical international exchange model centered on collaboration between local governments and universities."
