Starting with the "Three Artists, Three Colors" Exhibition in 2017
Now Marking Their Ninth Annual Exhibition
The exhibition presented by the artist group "Hwaseol People," active in the Suncheon region of Jeollanam-do, is drawing significant attention. Centered on the themes of nature, everyday life, and communication, the group seeks to foster empathy and interaction with citizens through works spanning a variety of genres.
In particular, the recent exhibition featured eight established artists, jointly showcasing both the current state and future potential of Suncheon’s art scene.
Kim Myung-yi of "Hwaseol People" explored themes of nature and healing, expressing the comfort and restoration provided by nature through painting. Meanwhile, Moon Seung-hee focused on childhood innocence and gardens, translating pure and simple emotions, as well as the world of childhood, into her works.
Lee Myung-yi visually interpreted the communion between nature and humans, presenting emotionally resonant and contemplative pieces. Pyo Seung-eun, under the theme of "communication and empathy with oneself," explored dialogues with one's inner self, emotions, and life, thereby seeking communication with viewers. In addition, Yang Jung-sun, Kim Young-ae, Cho Young-soo, and Shim Ye-seong are also participating in the exhibition.
The 2025 "Hwaseol People" exhibition will be held at the Suncheon Culture and Arts Center from November 28 to December 4, featuring a total of eight established artists. The exhibition encompasses a diverse range of genres, including Western painting, Korean painting, underwater photography, folk painting, and abstract art.
With the sentiment, "It is good because we are together, and because we walk the same path," the group began with the "Three Artists, Three Colors" exhibition in 2017. Having held several exhibitions since then, they are marking their ninth exhibition as of 2025.
The "Hwaseol People" exhibition is more than a simple display of artworks. Each artist reveals their unique style through different materials, subjects, and genres, yet they share common themes of nature, the mind, daily life, and empathy, demonstrating the diversity and potential of local art.
As their work is created within the local context of Suncheon, it offers new artistic experiences to local citizens and contributes to the expansion of the region's culture and arts.
Going forward, "Hwaseol People" plans to involve more artists, experiment with a wider variety of genres, and expand opportunities for communication with citizens, solidifying their role as an important force in the Suncheon art ecosystem.
