News Report Highlights Campus Conflicts and Solutions Amid Surge in International Students
The reporting skills honed on the ground and the passion of student journalists shone brightly.
The Dongui University Educational Broadcasting Station (DEBS) team received the Excellence Award at the '2025 Busan MBC Local News Contest Awards Ceremony,' which took place at the Busan MBC broadcasting station on November 26, 2025.

The DEBS team, consisting of Yoon Nari (third-year, Department of Clinical Laboratory Science) as Executive Director, Song Yeonhwa (second-year, Department of Media and Communication), Lee Seungyun (first-year, Department of Law), Jeon Hyungwook (first-year, Department of Robotics Engineering), and Kim Jimin (first-year, Department of Film Studies), was selected for the Excellence Award with a news piece titled "Increasing International Students: How Are Campus Conflicts Addressed?" The report covered various issues arising from the recent surge in foreign students on campus and proposed solutions.
The Dongui University media organization has achieved the remarkable feat of winning awards at the Busan MBC Local News Contest for four consecutive years: the Grand Prize in 2022, the Excellence Award in 2023, the Special Prize in 2024, and now another award in 2025.
The DEBS team shared their thoughts, saying, "We are delighted to receive such a valuable award. There were many challenges and shortcomings, but thanks to the collective preparation of our broadcasting team, we achieved a great result." They added, "Through our reporting, we were able to see the world from perspectives we had not previously considered. We are determined to continue striving to produce even better content in the future."
Busan MBC held a public contest for broadcast news serving the public interest in the local community, targeting citizens of Busan and Yangsan, over a four-month period from June to October 2025. The winning entries will be broadcast through Busan MBC News.
