Top Scores in Education, Safety, Operations, and Public Interest
Boseong County in South Jeolla Province announced that the Korea Tea Museum ranked among the top public museums in the province, scoring a total of 80.2 points in the 2025 public museum evaluation and certification conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Korea Tea Museum has once again proven itself as an outstanding public museum nationwide, being selected as a certified institution for the second consecutive time in 2025, following its previous certification in 2022.
The public museum evaluation is conducted every three years for public museums across the country. It assesses five areas: achievement of founding objectives, appropriateness of organization, personnel, facilities, and financial management, thoroughness of collection and management of materials, performance in exhibitions and educational programs, and public responsibility. The evaluation is based on quantitative (70 points) and qualitative (30 points) indicators.
In particular, the Korea Tea Museum demonstrated its expertise as an educational institution by achieving the highest score of 95.8% in the education category.
The museum also received high marks in safe facility management (90%), systematic operational planning (90%), public interest activities within the local community (88.3%), and collection management (87%), earning recognition for its top-tier operational capabilities nationwide.
The Korea Tea Museum offers a variety of educational and experiential programs where visitors can experience Boseong tea. In 2025, the museum created an environment where anyone can easily access Boseong tea culture, with around 10,000 participants taking part in eight different programs, including tea ceremony education, tea blending, and tea-based food making experiences.
Additionally, the museum has established a media content experience space, enabling visitors to engage with tea culture in a digital environment and significantly enhancing visitor convenience and accessibility.
As of November 2025, the museum has surpassed a cumulative total of 130,000 visitors, solidifying its position as a leading destination for experiential, exhibition, and viewing cultural tourism in Boseong.
A curator at the Korea Tea Museum stated, "Education is a core role of the museum, and we have focused on enabling visitors to directly experience and understand tea culture." The curator added, "We will continue to prepare enriching exhibitions and educational programs so that everyone, regardless of age or gender, can find rest and learning at the museum."
