Over 140 Students from 7 Departments Participate in Major-Specific Volunteer Activities
Students from Dong-Eui University have carried out the "Let's Build the Village" project to revitalize underdeveloped urban areas.
Dong-Eui University (President Han Suhwan) announced on November 27 that it held the "2025 Dong-Eui Youth, Let's Build the Village! Big Event" at the Namsanjeong Community Welfare Center in Deokcheon-dong, Buk-gu, Busan, on November 15.
The event, hosted by the Dong-Eui University University Innovation Support Project Group (Director Seo Jinseok), the Institute for Sustainable Community (Director Lee Taemoon), and the Namsanjeong Community Welfare Center, and organized by the Dong-Eui University Regional Collaboration Center (Director Kim Chanyong), brought together about 140 students from eight major clubs across seven departments, along with their supervising professors. On this day, they engaged in volunteer activities for residents of the BMC Apartments in Deokcheon-dong, utilizing their academic expertise.
In 2025, students from Dong-Eui University are participating in the big event "Dong-Eui Youth Village, Let's Do It!" and engaging in volunteer activities.
Volunteer activities by major included: the Department of Korean Language and Literature - book exhibition and Polaroid photo zone; the Department of Fire and Disaster Administration - fire extinguisher and CPR training, as well as life safety education; the Department of Lifelong Education and Youth Counseling - making wish keyrings; the Department of Psychology - decorating a wish tree; the Department of Hotel Convention Management - running a cafe; the Department of Public Administration - making and serving noodles; and the Department of Architecture - creating a village safety and environment map and conducting window insulation work.
Now in its 12th year, the "Dong-Eui Youth, Let's Build the Village! Big Event" is an urban regeneration joint club activity where students use the knowledge they have gained at university to contribute to the development of the local community.
Launched in 2014 at the Gaegeum 1-dong Railroad Village, the initiative has since involved Dong-Eui University youth in five neighborhoods-Anchang Village and Hocheon Village in Busanjin-gu, Gayadong, and Deokcheondong-with a cumulative total of over 4,000 participants.
