On November 26, the city was selected as an outstanding institution and received the award at the "2025 Remote Medical Consultation Project Performance Sharing Conference for Medically Underserved Areas" held at the Peace & Park Convention in Seoul.
The "Remote Medical Consultation Project for Medically Underserved Areas" is implemented based on the Medical Service Act and the Special Act on Health and Medical Services for Rural and Fishing Villages. The project utilizes information and communication technology to provide remote medical services to residents in areas with limited access to medical institutions.
The Chuncheon City Public Health Center was recognized for its contributions to resolving medical blind spots and improving access to healthcare for residents in underserved areas by: expanding the number of remote consultation medical institutions to 26 (including 5 public health sub-centers, 13 public health clinics, and 8 private medical institutions); conducting 593 remote medical consultations and counseling sessions; and securing equipment such as tablet PCs to establish a remote consultation system, thereby providing continuous and stable remote medical services.
Chuncheon City plans to continue its efforts to bridge regional healthcare disparities by expanding private medical institution participation and enhancing service quality. Son Eun-jin, Director of the Public Health Center, stated, "We will do our utmost to proactively respond to the rapidly changing healthcare environment and to ensure health equity for local residents."
