Laying the Foundation for Local Sports Growth
Through Entrusted Operation of Sports Facilities
Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwangdeok) announced on the 26th that the '30th Anniversary Night of Sportspeople of Namyangju City Sports Council' event was successfully held at the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center on the 25th.

This event was organized to look back on the past 30 years, express gratitude to those who have devoted themselves to the development of local sports, and prepare together for the next 30 years.
The event was attended by about 550 people, including Mayor Joo Gwangdeok, City Council Chair Cho Sungdae, local National Assembly members, party chapter heads, provincial council members, city council members, the president of the Sports Council, and officials from various sports organizations. The program featured a variety of meaningful segments, including a pre-event performance, a commemorative video screening, awards and honors for sportspeople, and a raffle draw.
On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the Sports Council presented the 'Sportspeople Grand Prize' to executives, member organizations, club members, and athletes who have contributed to the development of local sports, recognizing their dedication. In addition, the Mayor's Award and City Council Chair's Award were presented to express appreciation for the commitment of local sportspeople.
Directions for the future development of the Sports Council were also presented at the event. The city announced that from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2028, three new tennis courts and one archery range currently operated by Namyangju Urban Corporation will be entrusted to the Namyangju City Sports Council, establishing a systematic foundation for facility management. This entrustment aims to provide more professional sports services to citizens through systematic and efficient management of sports facilities.
Through these efforts, the city plans to create an environment that harmonizes recreational and elite sports, and, centering on the Sports Council, to establish a foundation where all citizens can enjoy sports as part of their daily lives, further accelerating the realization of a 'Healthy Namyangju.'
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok stated, "Sports are an important factor in improving the quality of life for citizens and serve as a force that unites the local community," adding, "We will continue to do our utmost to provide administrative support so that all citizens can enjoy sports in their daily lives and lead healthy lives."
