The results of a marathon runner racing against the Hangang Bus have been made public, drawing attention. The course spanned approximately 27 kilometers, from Mangwon Hangang Park in Mapo-gu, Seoul, to Jamsil Hangang Park in Songpa-gu.
On November 21, a video titled "I Ran Against the Hangang Bus" was uploaded to the YouTube channel Marathon Trainer. The channel operator, Jin Coach, started at 1:30 p.m., matching the departure time of the Hangang Bus, and set off with a goal of reaching Jamsil in about 2 hours and 7 minutes.
According to the information provided, the average speed of the Hangang Bus is 17 knots (31.5 km/h), with a maximum speed of 20 knots (37 km/h), but its average top speed based on trial operation records is around 15.8 knots. In the early stages of the race, Jin Coach trailed the Hangang Bus at a distance of about 1 kilometer, but after picking up the pace near Yeouido, he managed to overtake the bus at around the 24-kilometer mark.
Ultimately, Jin Coach arrived at the Jamsil dock ahead of the Hangang Bus and waited inside the dock. The Hangang Bus arrived at 3:39 p.m., two minutes later than its scheduled arrival time of 3:37 p.m.
Jin Coach expressed his satisfaction, saying, "It was fun running along the Han River after a long time." Online commenters reacted by saying, "The Hangang Bus was completely outplayed," and "It would be fun to organize a race with the theme of beating the Hangang Bus."
