Yeongwol County Takes First Step Toward Establishing Public Design Promotion Plan
Yeongwol County in Gangwon Province is currently working to establish a Public Design Promotion Plan through a business agreement with the Gangwon Design Promotion Foundation. This project has a budget of 146,432,000 won. Following a proposal evaluation on October 23, Design Factory Co., Ltd. was selected as the executing agency, officially launching the initiative. Starting with this kickoff briefing, the project will proceed with a current status survey, the establishment of basic directions for public design, and the development of strategies for each sector. After an interim report, the final plan is scheduled to be confirmed in August 2026.
During the kickoff briefing, an analysis of the current state of public design in Yeongwol County was presented, along with various pilot project examples based on this analysis. Specific cases were shared, such as the application of dementia prevention design reflecting the county's aging population and the proposal of a sculpture for the Yeongwol Station Plaza, which serves as the first impression of Yeongwol County. These examples helped deepen understanding of the project. Notably, all department and division heads participated in the kickoff briefing, emphasizing the importance of establishing a plan that everyone can agree on and that will be effective across all areas of county administration.
