Park Suhyun: "Korea-US Alliance Elevated to a Future-Oriented Strategic Partnership"
On November 14, the Democratic Party of Korea described the "Joint Fact Sheet," the outcome of the Korea-US tariff and security negotiations announced by President Lee Jaemyung, as "the fruit of pragmatic diplomacy centered on national interests."
Park Suhyun, Senior Spokesperson of the Democratic Party, held a briefing at the National Assembly Communication Center on the same day and said, "Today, President Lee announced the final agreement of the 'Joint Fact Sheet,' the outcome of the Korea-US tariff and security negotiations." He added, "We welcome the result of this negotiation, which protected national interests and elevated the Korea-US alliance to a higher level despite difficult circumstances."

After expressing gratitude to the public for their trust in the government's negotiations, Senior Spokesperson Park emphasized, "Today's achievement was made possible thanks to the dedication and efforts of public officials and business leaders who worked tirelessly, day and night, throughout the negotiation process."
He further explained, "This negotiation clarified the principle that only commercially viable investments will proceed, and only within the capacity our economy can fully bear. As a result, unfounded concerns and distrust regarding projects with little chance of recovering principal investment have been completely dispelled."
With regard to achievements in security and shipbuilding-such as the promotion of nuclear-powered submarine construction, expanded rights for uranium enrichment and spent nuclear fuel reprocessing, and institutional efforts to enable domestic construction of US Navy vessels-as well as progress in the Korea-US alliance, including continued stationing of US Forces Korea and discussions on the transfer of wartime operational control, he stated, "This marks a historic turning point that has elevated the Korea-US alliance into a future-oriented strategic alliance encompassing security, the economy, and advanced technology."
Senior Spokesperson Park also emphasized, "From traditional industries like shipbuilding and nuclear power to advanced sectors such as artificial intelligence and semiconductors, we will see a new level of cooperation unlike anything before."
He added, "As the President has said, 'In the international community, there are no eternal enemies or friends-only eternal national interests.' As a top-10 global economic power and the fifth-largest military power, the Republic of Korea must confidently move forward as a central nation leading the order on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia. The Democratic Party pledges to swiftly support follow-up measures together with the opposition so that these achievements can lead to real changes in the lives of the people."
