Gwangju City Council Selects Eight Recipients for Assembly Awards, Including Lee Sangoh and Kim Jaenam

The Gwangju City Council in Gyeonggi Province (Chairman: Heo Kyunghaeng) announced on the 14th that it had held a meeting of the "2025 17th Gwangju City Council Assembly Awards Selection Committee," consisting of 13 members including Gwangju City Council members and external committee members, on the 13th and selected the award recipients.

As a result of the selection, the following individuals were chosen: Lee Sangoh (Chairman of the Gyeonggi Gwangju Branch of the Korea Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organizations) in the culture and arts category; Kim Jaenam (Director of I-Sup Daycare Center) in the education category; Kang Byungwook (President of the Gwangju City Football Association) in the sports category; Kim Kyungsoo (Private Chairman of the Shinhyeon-dong Community Security Council) in the community service category; Lee Wonil (Chief of the Docheok-myeon Volunteer Crime Prevention Unit) in the community safety category; Seok Taehun (Head of the Corporate Support Division) in the administration category; Ahn Dongcheon (President of the Gonjiam Branch of the Gwangju City Entrepreneurs Association) in the local economy category; and Jung Youngseok (Bureau Chief of Gyeongin Daily) in the media category. As there was no eligible recipient in the environmental conservation category, a total of eight recipients were selected, one from each of the remaining nine categories.


The Gwangju City Council Assembly Awards, now in its 17th year since its inception in 2005, aim to express gratitude and instill pride by recognizing citizens and public officials who have contributed to the development of the local community and the council in the fields of culture and arts, education, sports, community service, community safety, administration, local economy, environmental conservation, and media. The 2025 Gwangju City Council Assembly Awards ceremony will be held in the main assembly hall on the 27th, following the conclusion of the first plenary session of the 321st Gwangju City Council 2nd regular session.
