First Book in the Daldal Yetgeuljorim Series
Woongjin Thinkbig announced on November 14 that it has published "Rudolph J," the first book in its new picture book series "Daldal Yetgeuljorim," which reinterprets classic prose with a modern sensibility.
"Daldal Yetgeuljorim" means "gently simmering old writings to melt into the heart," and is a picture book series that reinterprets the wisdom found in classics from a child's perspective.
This series features the work of over ten picture book authors, who, with the guidance of Professor Jeong Chulheon from the Department of Classical Chinese at Pusan National University and Professor Lee Seungeun from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Korea University, present "stories that resonate even today" as highly accomplished original picture books.
Both the text and illustrations are by artist Yoo Junjae, who was selected as "Illustrator of the Year" at the Bologna Children's Book Fair for "Blue Wave." Yoo delicately depicts snow-covered winter landscapes and the emotions of the characters using an original technique that harmoniously combines printmaking and digital layering.
An Kyungsook, Head of Content Development at Woongjin Thinkbig, said, "Reinterpreting classics offers new meanings and perspectives that transcend the limitations of the times," and added, "Through the Daldal Yetgeuljorim series, I hope readers will discover the driving force and value that classic thought and wisdom can bring to our daily lives."
