Goyang City Implements Out-of-Pocket Medical Fee Exemption for Patriotic Military Service Families at Public Health Centers

Ordinance Revision Takes Effect from November 14
Expanded Recognition for Patriotic Military Service Families

Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced that it has revised the "Ordinance on the Treatment of Patriotic Military Service Families in Goyang City" and, starting from November 14, will implement a system exempting out-of-pocket medical expenses at Goyang City public health centers for families recognized for their distinguished military service. This move aims to provide more substantial support and recognition for families who have faithfully fulfilled their military duties for the nation and local community.

A "Patriotic Military Service Family" refers to a family in which three generations have faithfully completed active military service or equivalent duties. The scope of beneficiaries includes the person who fulfilled military service, as well as their mother, spouse, and children.

The core of this ordinance revision is to establish a legal basis for exempting out-of-pocket medical expenses when members of a Patriotic Military Service Family and their relatives use public health centers within Goyang City. The goal is to provide practical support for daily life and to improve welfare for these families.

Accordingly, eligible individuals can receive the exemption by presenting their Patriotic Military Service Family certificate and relevant documents when receiving medical treatment at Goyang City public health centers.

Currently, the city is implementing various support measures to expand recognition for Patriotic Military Service Families. In addition to the exemption of out-of-pocket medical expenses, benefits include exemption from admission fees for various events hosted by Goyang Special City, and a 50% discount on public parking fees in accordance with the "Goyang City Parking Lot Installation and Management Ordinance."

The city expects that this revision will enhance social respect and pride for Patriotic Military Service Families, and that a culture of faithful military service will spread more broadly throughout the local community.
