Jeongah Hwang: "Aerospace Administration's R&D Headquarters and Aerospace Industry Promotion Agency Should Be Established in Daejeon"

Policy Forum on "Establishment of the Aerospace Administration's Research and Development Headquarters and Measures to Revitalize Aerospace R&D" to Be Held on November 14

Assemblywoman Jeongah Hwang stated, "As we enter an era of competition for space supremacy, now is a critical moment to consolidate our aerospace research and development capabilities to secure future security and space sovereignty." She added, "The Aerospace Administration's Research and Development Headquarters and the Aerospace Industry Promotion Agency should be established in Daejeon, which offers the optimal environment for joint research and development by academia, industry, and research institutes, and where currently fragmented aerospace R&D functions can be coordinated."

In this context, Assemblywoman Jeongah Hwang (Daejeon Yuseong-gu Eul) will host a policy forum titled "Establishment of the Aerospace Administration's Research and Development Headquarters and Measures to Revitalize Aerospace R&D" at 2 p.m. on November 14 in Meeting Room 9 of the National Assembly Members' Office Building.

This forum is co-hosted by Assembly members Jeongah Hwang, Beomgye Park, Seungrae Cho, Cheolmin Jang, Yonggap Park, Jeonghyeon Park, Jongtae Jang, and Juhui Lee, along with the Daejeon Metropolitan City, and is sponsored by the Aerospace Administration.

The forum will begin with a presentation by Junseok Yang, Senior Research Fellow at the Daejeon Research Institute, on the topic of "Location Strategies to Enhance the R&D Functions of the Aerospace Administration."

Next, Professor Hwanil Heo from the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Chungnam National University will serve as the moderator for the discussion. Participants in the discussion will include: Youngbo Sagong, CEO of Soltop Co., Ltd. (Chairman of the Daejeon New Space Development Council); Hyosang Yoon, Professor of Aerospace Engineering at KAIST; Uiseop Shin, Professor of Aerospace Engineering at Jeonbuk National University; Moonsik Lee, Director of the Satellite Communication Research Division at ETRI; Junseok Yang, Senior Research Fellow at the Daejeon Research Institute; Gilsu Jang, Director of Strategic Planning at the Daejeon Institute of Science & Industry Advancement; and Jaehyung Lee, Director of Planning and Coordination at the Aerospace Administration. They will share diverse perspectives on the necessity of establishing the Aerospace Administration's Research and Development Headquarters and on restructuring policy governance.

Assemblywoman Jeongah Hwang stated, "I will do my utmost in the National Assembly to provide legislative and policy support to strengthen aerospace R&D capabilities, including the swift passage of the bill I sponsored to establish the Aerospace Administration's Research and Development Headquarters."
