The Criminal Division 6 of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office has taken charge of the case in which former Korea Communications Commission Chairperson Lee Jinsook filed a complaint against officials from the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul, who were involved in the investigation of her alleged violation of the Public Official Election Act.

Lee Jinsook's 'Yeongdeungpo Police Chief Complaint Case' Assigned to Criminal Division 6 of Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office Yonhap News Agency

On November 12, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office announced that the case, in which former Chairperson Lee accused the chief and the head of Investigation Division 2 at Yeongdeungpo Police Station of abuse of authority, has been assigned to Criminal Division 6 (headed by Prosecutor Lee Kyungmin).

Criminal Division 6 is also investigating former Korea Communications Standards Commission Chairperson Ryu Heelim on suspicion of violating the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act.

Im Mooyoung, the attorney representing former Chairperson Lee, stated via social media, "There has been no contact regarding an investigation of the complainant at this time," adding, "Given the current situation at the prosecution, it is unlikely that the case will be processed quickly."

On November 5, former Chairperson Lee submitted a complaint to the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, arguing that the third summons investigation by the police in her case involving alleged violations of the State Public Officials Act and the Public Official Election Act was unnecessary.
