On November 12, the Daegu Metropolitan Government signed an investment agreement with TSE Co., Ltd. (Co-CEOs Kim Cheolho and Kim Myungjin), a company specializing in semiconductor inspection equipment, at the Daegu City Hall Sangyeok Office. The agreement is for the establishment of a "Circuit Design Center" within the Dongdaegu Venture Valley (Daegu Technopark).
Since its founding in 1995, TSE has been recognized for its unrivaled technological capabilities in the semiconductor testing field, growing into a global mid-sized company. The company collaborates with world-renowned semiconductor clients such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Nvidia, TSMC, Micron, AMD, and Intel, and in 2021, it received the "100 Million Dollar Export Tower" award.
Currently, TSE has five subsidiaries, including three listed on the KOSDAQ related to semiconductors, and has achieved the localization of semiconductor inspection equipment, continuing its steady growth. The five subsidiaries are Tiger Elec Co., Ltd., LDT Co., Ltd., Megatouch Co., Ltd., Megacen Co., Ltd., and GM Test Co., Ltd.
The company’s main products include probe cards, interface boards, and test sockets used in semiconductor testing processes. Notably, its interface boards have been designated as "World-Class Products" by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, earning recognition for having the world’s leading technology.
The "Circuit Design Center," which will open in Daegu Technopark, is expected to become a key hub for strengthening semiconductor technology and expanding the industrial ecosystem through the recruitment of local talent and industry-academia cooperation.
The center is scheduled to open in December. It will initially employ 10 people, starting with research and development of probe cards, and plans to expand to 50 employees within three years as it broadens its scope to include inspection equipment development.
Kim Myungjin, CEO of TSE Co., Ltd., stated, "Daegu offers the optimal environment for securing outstanding talent, and we expect to achieve mutual growth with the local industry. We will actively recruit young local talent and continue to expand our business areas."
Hong Sungju, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Daegu, said, "The opening of TSE’s Circuit Design Center is a significant and meaningful investment that will contribute to the expansion of Daegu’s semiconductor industry ecosystem and the retention of local talent. We will spare no effort in supporting TSE so that it can further solidify its position as a global leader in semiconductor inspection equipment through this investment."
To foster the semiconductor industry, Daegu is actively promoting the development of industry-academia specialized talent, the establishment of a shared semiconductor fab called "D-FAB," and the opening of the "Intelligent Semiconductor Development Support Center," as well as building semiconductor industry infrastructure and implementing corporate support policies.
