Pocheoncheon 10km Waterfront "Blueway" Project Begins Gathering Citizen Feedback

On November 10, Baek Younghyun, mayor of Pocheon, spent time engaging with citizens by running together on the track of Pocheon Sports Complex. This event was part of on-site communication efforts for the creation of the "Blueway" project, and he was invited by 25 members of "Runwolrun," Pocheon's leading running club.

This event was organized as a participatory running meeting, where the mayor exercised with citizens and listened directly to voices from daily life in the community.

After completing the run with members of Runwolrun, Mayor Baek Younghyun listened to various opinions from citizens regarding the current state of stream usage and ways to promote exercise and health. In addition, a Pocheon city official explained the main details and future direction of the "Pocheoncheon Blueway Project" on site, helping citizens better understand the initiative.

Mayor Baek Younghyun stated, "Pocheoncheon is the closest waterfront space in citizens' daily lives and a symbol of our city's identity. We will ensure the smooth progress of the 'Pocheoncheon Blueway Project' so that every citizen can use it safely and comfortably."

He added, "I hope that on-site communication activities like this, where citizens participate directly and share their opinions, will become an important opportunity to enhance the vitality of the city and strengthen our sense of community."

The "Pocheoncheon Blueway Project," currently being promoted by Pocheon City, aims to create a waterfront space along a 10-kilometer stretch from Songuri in Soheul-eup to Gachaeri in Sinbuk-myeon. Specific projects include the construction of a water playground and multipurpose riverside plaza at Pocheon Sports Complex, the creation of an ecological riverside garden near the 15th Aviation Group, the improvement of the Hasonguri riverside park, and the expansion and separation of pedestrian and bicycle paths.
