Sokcho City Emerges as a Leisure Destination
Where Companion Animals and Families Enjoy Together

Celebrating its 20th anniversary and surpassing a cumulative total of 2 million visitors, the Sokcho City Museum has completed the construction of the 'Sokcho Forest Family Play Experience Center.' The museum will hold an opening ceremony in front of the center at 2 p.m. on November 18 and present the new facility to citizens and tourists.

The opening ceremony will proceed in the following order: national ceremony, project report, congratulatory remarks, ribbon cutting, and a demonstration of the experience center. Through this event, the city plans to share and commemorate the moment when the city museum takes a leap forward as a complex cultural space in Sokcho, together with its citizens.

The 'Sokcho Forest Family Play Experience Center Project' was carried out with a total budget of 1.5 billion won, developing a site with a total area of 4,598 square meters. A variety of trees and flowers have been planted to recreate a natural forest environment, and the ground has been covered with fine sand instead of artificial mats, considering children's safety and emotional development.

The center is equipped with interactive play facilities for children, such as a combination play structure, a zip line, and a group swing. It goes beyond a simple playground, providing children with a healthy and unique play area, and offering families a space to relax and spend time together.

In addition, pet-exclusive play facilities such as a pet slope and a circle path have also been installed. In line with the trend of recognizing pets as family members, the center has been created as a new type of public play facility where people and their companion animals can enjoy together, meeting new social demands.

Lee Byeongseon, Mayor of Sokcho, stated, "At a time when families are spending less time together, it is meaningful to have a space where all family members, including pets, can enjoy together," adding, "We hope the city museum becomes Sokcho's representative leisure space where citizens and tourists alike can find both relaxation and hands-on experiences."
