Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association (Chairman Lim Chaecheong) announced on November 11 that it had discussed disaster response and welfare network cooperation in the Gangwon region with the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province branch of the Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Yu Gyesik).
This meeting was organized to discuss step-by-step cooperation measures, from prevention to response, recovery, and restoration, in the Gangwon region, which frequently experiences complex disasters such as wildfires and droughts. The Gangwon region is an area prone to seasonal disasters, ranging from the wildfires in 2019 to the recent droughts in Gangneung.
The two organizations shared opinions on strengthening local networks to ensure seamless coordination between on-site relief and welfare support in the event of a disaster, as well as on sharing information and establishing connection strategies.
The main topics discussed included: ▲ linking livelihood and housing recovery support after emergency relief ▲ cooperating in identifying and preventing disaster-vulnerable groups.
Yu Gyesik, Chairman of the Gangwon branch of the Community Chest of Korea, stated, "Hope Bridge is always a reliable partner that responds swiftly at disaster relief sites. Going forward, both organizations will continue to work together organically so that the residents of Gangwon can quickly return to their daily lives after disasters."
Shin Hoon, Secretary General of Hope Bridge, said, "Over the past few years, Gangwon has been a meaningful region where the association has collaborated in response to various disasters. I hope this will lead to even closer and more continuous cooperation with the Gangwon branch of the Community Chest of Korea, which has an extensive local network."
