KEIMTECH Releases Official MOTIE Document Confirming "Not Classified as Core Technology Leak"

KEIMTECH Releases Official MOTIE Document Confirming "Not Classified as Core Technology Leak"

KEIMTECH, a company specializing in secondary battery components, announced on November 12 that it has released an official document issued by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (hereinafter referred to as MOTIE), confirming the government’s official determination that “KEIMTECH’s prismatic Cap components do not fall under national core technology nor advanced technology.”

The MOTIE document explicitly states, “The relevant Cap Ass'y technology does not qualify as national core technology or advanced technology.” This is an administrative decision resulting from MOTIE’s formal review and assessment process. In other words, the company asserts that, despite the government’s official determination that “the relevant technology is not a national core technology,” the prosecution’s classification of this as a “national core technology leak” directly contradicts the government’s administrative ruling.

A KEIMTECH representative stated, “MOTIE’s determination is not simply an advisory opinion, but an official ruling made by the government in accordance with the law, and it carries legal authority that supersedes the internal judgment of investigative agencies.” The representative added, “Nevertheless, the prosecution’s use of the term ‘national core technology leak’ without considering the government’s official determination is factually incorrect and has seriously damaged the company’s reputation.”

KEIMTECH further commented, “We hope that future investigations and industrial policy discussions will proceed under more consistent standards based on the objective determinations of government ministries,” and added, “We will continue to share clear information to prevent unnecessary misunderstandings regarding cooperation structures between companies or general industrial technologies.”

The company also stated, “KEIMTECH’s technologies are managed through customized design and approval processes for each client,” and added, “MOTIE’s latest determination confirms that this technology qualifies as general industrial technology and cannot be classified as either proprietary technology of a specific company or as national core technology.”

KEIMTECH stated that it will continue to provide accurate information based on facts. The company added, “We will review all necessary legal and administrative procedures to protect the honor of the company and its employees, and all processes will be conducted transparently in accordance with laws and procedures.”
