Firefighters' Day (November 9) is a commemorative day established to promote fire prevention and safety awareness for the protection of citizens' lives and property.
During the event, the Northern Gyeonggi Province 119 Special Response Team honored a total of eight individuals who have set an example in various disaster sites, such as fires and rescue operations, and contributed to the advancement of firefighting administration. The awards presented included one commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety, one from the Commissioner of the National Fire Agency, three from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province, one from the Chairperson of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, and two from the Head of the Northern 119 Special Response Team, totaling eight commendations.
The recipients of the commendations have dedicated themselves to protecting public safety in various disaster situations. In particular, Park Aekyung, Secretary-General of the Korea Search and Rescue Dog Association, received the Governor of Gyeonggi Province's commendation in the civilian category for her contributions to the spread of a safety culture, including cooperation in search and rescue dog training and strengthening disaster response systems.
At the ceremony, Chief Choi Hyeonho expressed his deep gratitude, saying, "I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you who are dedicated to protecting public safety in various disaster situations. I ask that you continue to faithfully fulfill your respective roles to ensure the safety of our citizens."
