Police Summon Complainants Against Special Prosecutor Min Jungki for Investigation

The Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency summoned Kim Kiyoon, Vice Chairman of the People Power Party's Legal Advisory Committee, in the afternoon to investigate the circumstances behind the complaint filed against Special Prosecutor Min for alleged abuse of authority and other charges.

The People Power Party submitted a complaint to the police last month, claiming that the special prosecutor's team had unlawfully seized the party's membership list while investigating allegations of mass membership registration by the Unification Church. Attorney Kim stated, "We did not refuse to submit the requested materials, so carrying out a forced seizure violates the restrictions on seizure procedures."

On the same day, the Jongno Police Station in Seoul summoned Kim Soonhwan, Secretary-General of the conservative group People's Livelihood Countermeasures Committee (Seominwi), who had filed a complaint against Special Prosecutor Min for alleged coercive investigation and insider trading.

Seominwi argued that the death of a Yangpyeong County official during the special prosecutor's investigation constitutes abuse of authority, coercion, and defamation, and that allegations of insider trading by Special Prosecutor Min fall under violations of the Capital Markets Act.
