This event was organized to express gratitude for the dedication of those involved in firefighting who have worked to protect the lives and property of citizens at disaster sites, and to reflect on the significance of their efforts. The city plans to use this ceremony as an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of citizen safety and to focus on strengthening its disaster response capabilities.
Approximately 100 people attended the event, including Mayor Donggeun Kim, firefighters, and members of the volunteer fire brigade. The ceremony proceeded in the order of the national pledge, commendations for distinguished individuals, congratulatory remarks, and a commemorative address.
While presenting the commendations, Mayor Donggeun Kim stated, "I sincerely thank all the firefighters and volunteer fire brigade members who dedicate themselves to protecting the lives of citizens at the scenes of fires and disasters. Your hard work and passion are making Uijeongbu a safer city. I will do my utmost to create a 'safer Uijeongbu' that protects the lives and property of our citizens from disasters."
